Favourite Five

Favourite Five: Say it with flowers

The Chelsea Flower Show is upon from 22 May, so generally, I think it is that time to take a look at our options for those special occasions. Our Favourite Five kicks in again on how to get your floral fix.

This is really our flowers-to-go option. That last minute shop for a birthday, anniversary or just to put a smile on someone’s face. M&S have a decent floral selection at a reasonable price. Choose from roses, tulips and orchids which can normally be found by the check-out counter.

Want beautiful bouquets to order? Then stop no further. With nationwide deliveries, you can have a modern twist on seasonal blooms delivered straight to your door. A million miles away from a boring interflora concoction, they don’t only specialise in flowers, they also do scented candles.

Wild at Heart
Now if there were football leagues in the world of florists, this one would be premiership. First of all it is based in SW1, so you know that their discerning clientele probably have a few bob. Regardless, their creations are amazing and theatrical. It would not do Wild at Heart justice just to buy a simple middle dining table feature, these folk are made to cater for something bigger and grander, like a wedding or event. That’s when you truly get to see their skill.

That Flower Shop
I have had the pleasure of working with Hattie, the owner. What stuck to me is her ability to be creative and really understand the concept and style of your needs. She also has the patience of a saint once having to provide for a very high maintenance individual (not me). She has a shop at The Ace Hotel as well as a studio space on Hoxton Street. Who would have thought that this creator of all things florally gorgeous would have started back in 2012 in a small Shoreditch back street. Dreams do come true and grow big!

Chez Michele
In the heart of Borough Market is exactly where you want to be. One of my favourite spots in London with no end of foodie and drinks spots. Opened in 2004, you can not help but be drawn in with the array of colours and aromas outside the shop which entice you. A chirpy small team can help guide through what is in season, right for a special occasion and suits your budget.
